Nova Sued For Not Paying the Rent

Now the landlords are getting into the act. According to the Nikkan Sports, a landlord in Kyoto has filed a lawsuit demanding 1.35 million yen in rent in arrears.

The school, which is in Shimogyou ward, Kyoto, is three months in arrears with the rent. A lawyer for the landlord says that this is probably the first case where Nova has been sued for not paying the rent.

Comment:

It may be the first but it certainly won't be the last. I suspect that when other landlords get whiff of this, they'll start taking Nova to court, too.

京都のＮＯＶＡ賃料３カ月滞納

英会話学校最大手のＮＯＶＡ（大阪市）が、京都市下京区の賃貸ビル内で営業している英会話教室の賃料約３カ月分を滞納し、貸主が明け渡しと賃料など約１３５万円の支払いを求める訴訟を京都地裁に起こしたことが１０日、分かった。貸主の代理人弁護士によると、解約金の支払いをめぐる訴訟はあるが、ＮＯＶＡが教室の賃料未払いで提訴されたのは初のケースとみられる。
