Nova Teachers Not Paid
Nova's worst nightmare is now a reality. As of 3pm yesterday, it appears that Nova was unable to pay all of its instructors. A stated:
Regrettably, it has not been possible to complete all the necessary operations to deposit instructors salaries on September 14, 2007. Salaries will be deposited by September 19, 2007. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
Can you smell the bullshit? This is eerily reminiscent of the "technical glitch" that caused the staff's pay to be delayed. Somehow, over this 3-day long weekend, Nova is going to come up with the money. What the note confirms is that Nova is insolvent. There's no money in the bank.
Unless Nova comes up with some concrete changes to its business model (and we haven't seen anything beyond hiring more teachers and closing some schools) and you can expect paydays from now on to be uncertain.

Sadly, Let's Japan went offline around 2:30 yesterday. I haven't thoroughly gone through the web logs, but my host confirms that the site was flooded with a massive amount of traffic that forced them to shut down LJ before it crashed the server. Hopefully the worst is over.

The president hasn't kept his word. His word was that we would be paid on or before the 15th, then that was broken, then his word was the 18th, that word was broken, then hs word was the 20th, that word was broken. Finally he said the 25th and I'm still waiting. Be under to pretence, this is not keeping ones word, this is being a liar and then finally pulling through with the truth. What a clown you are. If you have a good branch i.e good teachers, nice staff and enthusiastic students (as I do) this job is one of the best going around. The fact that you would "laugh out loud" at people who have probably helped you, been friendly to you and drank with you while you were at NOVA shows your level of childishness.
As for taking the job seriously, the students who have paid my way here have paid very good money for good lessons, so I owe it to them. No matter what job I have I do my best and there is nothing worse in this country than arrogant sleaze bags like you who try to derive self esteem by lauging at others for doing the job you used to do. I've been working part time for the new nova since July 1st 2008 and just got paid August 15th.
NOTHING has changed in Nova at ALL!
My salary was TWO DAYS SHORT, NO overtime included and less than HALF of my travel expenses!
I've worked my ass off for these thieves, believing they were pulling themselves out of the quagmire, but in all essence, they are still treating teachers like shit!
The local Area Manager is a waste of space and should be fired!
She's doing NOTHING but traveling around wasting money!

Anyone who went and worked for the new Nova (AKA G-Comm) has rocks in their head, and was basically admitting they could not find any work anywhere else. A sign of desperation and self pity, sadly.
Have some self respect, man! Youve been working for the New Nova for many months now, on shit pay and conditions...and havent found any better? All the G-Con workers are obviously spending all their (lowest in Eikaiwa) wages on cheap happoshu so as its clouding their sense of reality.

The OP stated that he is working for the company part time. I suspect that he has other, steady, full time employment (perhaps as an ALT, which although can be shady, offers stability as the contract is government funded). If this is in fact the case, I do feel a bit sorry for him, as he was simply doing this for some extra spending cash.
I was contacted by NOVA having worked for them years ago. I no longer teach English, and do not miss the industry. I felt a sense of desperation in the voice of the caller, who spoke English with a very heavy Chinese accent. Such desperation could appeal to one's sensibility and compel them to take on part time work. For my part, I politely and respectfully declined the offer. Being rude or demeaning does nothing to remedy problems and only puts people on the defensive. It is also generally condemable social behavior.

A lot of people tipped NeoNOVA's demise to occur in summer, but it doesn't seem to have happened yet.
Now would be a good time to hear from people on the inside but I can't help feeling that the useless, self-indulging tossers with their incredibly subtle "IF YOU'RE STILL AT NOVA NOW YOU'RE A LOSER" messages have somehow discouraged current NOVA teachers from contributing.
ENND, while I would agree that not ALL neo novites are losers, you can't really suggest that their willingness to put up with such shit commends them as dynamic human beings, either. You yourself left because you saw it for what it was. OK, maybe they're not losers, but they really need a reality check for going back.
My personal guess is they don't post here, because they've got NO way of justifying what a stupid thing they've done. And it is my personal belief that every single one of them, at some later point will regret their current foolishness, of continuing their association with GCom and Nova.

In response to the erroneous statement forwarded by a misguided previous poster, I would like to take this opportunity, if I may, to correct a few points in this forum.
Firstly, you should desist immediately from posting those lies about the New Nova. G.Education. I'm writing to you as an ex NOVA teacher, who worked there long enough to know what I'm talking about.
I'm still in touch with alot of my former NOVA students, many of whom are using up their old NOVA tickets, at GCom.
ALL of them have told me that when their tickets run out, they won't be buying any more. Many of them are now MY students, and I'm sitting here on a Sunday. It's my day off - because I (not you) decided when my day off would be. I'd really have to be either stupid, or desperate, to join your Mickey Mouse set up, with your arbitrary and often illegal rules, and working terms, crap working conditions, racist management, quisling middle managers like you, few, holidays, if you can actually get your request approved, a dwindling student base, and very little, in the way of genuine prospects.
Still, I'm sure you can find SOME people desperate or stupid enough to join a company that is going nowhere fast, to be treated like shit. Although I'm also sure people like that have dwindled in number, since the real NOVA crashed.
It sounds like you have VERY EXCITING times ahead - don't forgot to tell the peachy new teachers NOT to socialize with the students, and any other arbitrary, illegal rules that you can think up.
