Sankei Shimbun: Anders Lundqvist Resigns
A reader points out a Sankei Shimbun article saying that Anders Lundqvist has resigned.
The article says that Lundqvist joined g.communication when it took over Nova's operations but has decided to resign due to criticism about his employment from outside the company. Lundqvist apparently joined g.communication in November after Nova filed for bankruptcy protection.
Lundqvist's joining g.comm came up during negotiations between g.comm and the General Union earlier this month. The General Union charged that Lunqvist was Sahashi's right-hand man and that his position in the company was problematic setting aside the fact his responsibility in Nova's collapse.
g.comm replied to the union several days later that Lunqvist has tendered his resignation in the middle of January.
Calling all media outlets! Where the hell are you? Didn't you guys call the Nova bankruptcy the largest consumer wipeout since the end of the war? Doesn't that merit some sort of follow up? Why isn't there more of this kind of reporting? [YouTube embedding not available]

破産手続き中の英会話学校大手「ＮＯＶＡ」（大阪市中央区）の元取締役で、創業時から幹部として猿橋望元社長（５６）を支えてきたアンデルス・ルンドクヴィスト氏（５０）が、事業譲渡先のジー・コミュニケーション（名古屋市北区）に再就職していたことが２１日、分かった。しかしルンドクヴィスト氏の雇用について外部からジー社に批判が集まるなどしたため、同氏は今月中に退社する意向という。
関係者によると、ルンドクヴィスト氏はＮＯＶＡが会社更生法を申請した後の昨年１１月ごろ、ジー社に入社した。ジー社では、ＮＯＶＡから移籍してきた外国人講師らを統括する業務を任されていたという。
ルンドクヴィスト氏のジー社への入社話は、外国人講師らでつくる労働組合「ゼネラルユニオン」（大阪市北区）が１月上旬に行ったジー社との交渉の場で浮上。ユニオン側が「猿橋元社長の右腕として活動し、ＮＯＶＡの破綻にも責任があるにもかかわらず、新体制後も居座り続けるのは問題」などと批判した。
これに対してジー社側が数日後、「本人から１月中に退職届を出すとの話があった」とユニオン側に回答したという。ルンドクヴィスト氏が入社した経緯について、ジー社広報課は「個人情報にかかわるので答えられない」としている。
ルンドクヴィスト氏はスウェーデン人で、猿橋元社長とともに同社を創立したメンバーの１人。外国人講師のマネジメント部門のトップを務めていた。昨年１０月２５日夜に開かれたＮＯＶＡの臨時取締役会では、ルンドクヴィスト氏ら当時の取締役３人が猿橋元社長の解任を決めた。

I asked my IAM if Anders has left and he confirmed it. Apparently Anders told him he was going to do pretty much nothing for the next couple of months.
I remember reading in one of those "level up contest" magazines that Nova used to put outside branches that he mentioned he had a daughter. I don't know if his wife is Japanese or not. I can only hope that the government has stuffed up his pension payments and he'll have to shell out a lot of dough to stay in Japan.
Any stories you've heard about Anders? I've heard various stories. Basically he seemed to always speak in a nasty tone without any politeness in teachers' meetings.

I heard that Anders' "management philosophy" was to always assume that, if you were in any doubt about anything the instructors were doing, you should always assume that they were doing bad things - lying, cheating, skiving etc.
Hence the general bad attitude of the Nova management towards its workforce, and the knock-on effect of dwindling morale and more resentment and bitterness towards the company from instructors.
I think that this, plus sheer greed and profiteering, were the main downfalls of the company.

Every time something was sent out it had his name on it. Good or bad, but mostly bad, this guy has his hand in screwing many foreigners out of what was legally theirs. Countless cases of unemployemnt benefits and non payments along the way. Fraud really. Hang your head in shame Anders.

I have heard there are countless ex NOVA teachers who returned home in 2007 pre October meltdown who never received their final pay despite phonecalls from abroad to this ratbag telling them that the money was on its way to their accounts.
Anders definitely played his part in ALL of Nova's monkey business along the way and should hang his head in shame at the way he treated his fellow expatriate staff. Bastardo!!

I'm surprised it took so long for the letsjapan community to get the news. I posted the same info two weeks ago in the "Off the Rails" thread. The Union members were practically dancing and celebrating his demise when they heard the news. They were sharing the good news with everybody. This is good news, but old news.
Information from HELLO WORK
If G-Com doesn't renew your contract they must give you within a deadline of 11 days a (離職票 rishokuhyo) which is a document stating that it is G-GOM who decided not to renew your contract (契約期間満了 keiyaku kikan manryo) for economical reason. With this document you will be able to receive unemployement money from HELLO WORK.
NOVAの離職票＋G-COMの離職票（”契約期間満了”と記載がある事！）＝7日間待機したら、すぐに雇用保険が貰える。
G-COMは退職日から11日以内に離職票を発行しなくてはいけない義務がある。

As everybody start to understand, in Japan, there is the law, there is what they say and there is what they do. And that can be 3 very different things. Constitution in Japan had been brought by the Americans after the war. It was in English and I think they still struggle to understand it :)
Anyway, if you didn't get this document call G-COM or go to MM. if after 10 days they still fail to provide it go to Hello Work and explain your prob. They will handle it for you... Hopefully

I heard from a my former branch manager and former GF that Mr. Lord had the shit kicked out of him last Sunday in an English pub by several Japanese guys and is in critical condition with a slight skull fracture and pissing blood from internal bleeding. It wasn't related to any Nova related bullshit though. Couldn't have happend to a nicer guy, except maybe Anders. Get well soon, prick.

Unemployment insurance
I got a call from foriegn personnel on friday...they needed a copy of my "i'm not Japanese" card (as if my face isn't enough evidence that I'm not Japanese!). They said it was because they were signing everyone up for unemployment insurance!!!!!!!! I hope it's retroactive to 11/30 when I signed my option A request for reemployment!!!!!!!! Two months to get signed up...I guess there were too many option A teachers in December! Good thing is: Foriegn Personnel know that I'm alive and I exist!!!
Criticism not warranted
I was an employee of Nova and had my run ins with management. I wrote a letter to Anders for help and he made things easier for me. He is an honorable man and I hope that he is doing fine where ever he may be.
