It's late and that picture just gave me a MacAttack!!! I'm making a midnight run. Fries, Funky Fish Nuggets, and a Shake.

Anyway, this topic reminds me of some thread a while back when someone on the board met a girl behind the counter at StarBucks who was an 'ex-drone'.

I wonder what the McF ck happened to all of those former eikaiwa zombies.

I may (may) be leaving my Nova job soon ... to take up a job I've been offered in the States. Maybe ...

I have permanency residency and a re-entry visa that expires in August. Do I have to get a new re-entry visa before I leave, in case I want to come back to Japan later?

Or can I do it at a Japanese consulate in the States?

As usual I plod along thinking that "my witty comment" is, well, at least not bad. When I come back and see the connection that NN has made with another thread I feel like the straight guy in comedy routine jargon. So be it.

NN, that's a perk I never thought of!!! The future is looking up (somebody's [cough, mumble mumble])!!!

JCE, it's good to hear that you like to slam some Jesus Juice.

The answer to your question about having PR and heading back to the states is:

YES, you will have to get a re-entry stamp BEFORE you leave.

Check with J-Immigration. I think they have a website with this information.

Thanks. I checked out the site. There are some cool posters. It would be funny to get a few of those for the school. The J-people wouldn't know the REAL meaning of them.

I meant the "going to hell but at least I am enjoying the ride" part.

I know the Highway to Hell part is from AC/DC. I used to listen to them a lot when I was in high school ...

Well, it was a long time ago.

And I've been known to pull out one of the old tapes now and then. "Who Made Who" was my favorite song of theirs. Still is.

Now now, there's no need to be sarcastic, Musashi.

And FWIW, I like working at the branch where I am at. I know not all Nova branches are as good to work at as ours is ... but...

... it's not bad. Nice BM, nice AT, and half the teachers have been there for at least two years (I've been there the longest) and no one has any major complaints.

Several teachers have come and gone but none have ever left being all pissy at Nova. They left just because they chose to move onto to something else, with no hard feelings.

In fact, the only guy at our branch who left on a less than positive note was a total screw up. The company never did anything to him, though he often bitched about it. He, on the other hand, did plenty to tick off the company -- show up to work late frequently, show up in shorts and T shirt mins. before his first lesson, not show up at all a couple times. Nobody liked him -- staff, students, other students. No one.

I know not all Nova branches are good, I realize that. I have worked as a "help" teacher in a few of them and, believe me, I was glad I was just there for a day or two.

But ours is pretty cool. All things considered.

Yeah ... in some Christian denominations it is frowned on (if not outright banned) to drink alcohol.

But in my brand of Christianity (Catholicism), drinking is not only allowed ... it's highly encouraged!

And this is a bit of Bible-thumping you may actually like ... Scripture mentions the moderate and proper consumption of alcohol in a positive light over 130 times.

But not drunkenness, which is explicitly condemned.
